On my first login as myself to lxviiik (a 2-way Ultra 2) after
completion of the postinstall and reboot, after a long delay,
then having my home session appear as usual, I got a dialog window
with the following message:
The DT messaging system could not be started.
To correct the problem:
1. Choose [OK] to return to the login screen.
2. Select Failsafe Session from the login screen's option menu
and log in.
!
3. Check to see that the hostname is correct in these locations:
/etc/src.sh
/etc/hosts
/usr/adm/inetd.sec
For additional information, see the DT User's Guide.

I was able to verify via a telnet login that the set of window system
processes (particularly ttsession instances) was the same as my
login on an Ultra 10 test machine.
Clicking the [OK] button logged me out, even though it appeared
that everything was normal from my home session.
This message is provides an insufficient description of the nature
of problem, the Failsafe Session seems to be the same as my home
session except that my .profile is inactive, and the references
to the files /etc/src.sh and /usr/admn/inetd.sec are confusing since
these files don't exist under Trusted Solaris (or even base Solaris).
Lastly, I have been unable to find any documentation that matched
the description "DT User's Guide". |
